THE BASICS


INTRODUCTION TO LEARN TO SKATE USA CURRICULUM

  • We accept skaters age 3 years old through Adult

  • Children advance through levels 1 - 6

  • Class registrations are ongoing (scheduled throughout the year)

  • All class participants are required to hold an annual membership through the Huntsville Skating School and Learn to Skate USA. (LTS Membership)

LTS Class Guidelines​

ARRIVAL: 

All class participants must arrive 15–20 minutes prior to warm up. Early arrival gives you time to:

  • Check in at the Skating School Office (Rink 2)

  • Receive your name tag

  • Pick up rental skates (if needed)

  • Lace skates (Teaching Assistants are available to help)

  • Use the restroom

  • Add appropriate layers for the rink

 

OFF-ICE WARM UP:

Before going onto the ice, Teaching Assistants will lead skaters through an off-ice warm up. Warm Up Times begin 10 minutes prior to start of class time.

 

​ATTIRE:

Skaters should wear flexible, comfortable athletic clothing (NO JEANS) with hair pulled away from the face. Legs must be covered at all times, THAT MEANS NO SHORTS OR SKIRTS WITH BARE LEGS

SAFETY:

Helmet Policy- Skaters 5 years old and younger are REQUIRED to wear a helmet (Bicycle helmets are acceptable). Helmets for skaters over age 5 are optional (parent/individual/coaches discretion).

DUE TO SCHEDULING CONSTRAINTS:

There are NO refunds or exchanges for missed classes. There are no makeup classes during the series. 

 

WEATHER DELAYS & FACILITY UPDATES: 

For the latest information on Weather delays or cancellations, Facility announcements, Upcoming events Follow the Huntsville Skating School & Training Academy and the Huntsville Ice Sports Center on social media.

 

LTS PRACTICE PASS:

Skaters are encouraged to use their Learn to Skate Practice Pass during public sessions to practice skills and make up missed ice time. If a session is cancelled due to rink closure, account credit will be applied to FinnlySport accounts.

SPECTATOR POLICY:

To support safety and minimize distractions spectators (Parents/Family/Friends) are Not allowed Rinkside during class​

Where to watch: Rink 2 Lobby (temperature controlled), Rink 2 Balcony (not temperature controlled), Zambrewskis Tavern (temperature controlled + full food & bar service)
